Topic Interest: The Effects of Font on Comprehension
For my research project, I am interested in investigating the effect font has on an individuals ability to comprehend a text. My fascination with this topic started last semester when my Document Design class had a lively debate on preferred fonts. After debating with my classmates about the pros and cons of different fonts, it occurred to me that everyone may have fonts that allow them to read and create content more effectively. My personal font of choice being Times New Roman. I have found myself copying and pasting different texts into Microsoft Word simply to change the font. By changing the font to Times New Roman, I have noticed I have an easier time focusing on the information that is presented to me. I am curious to find if others have similar responses to different fonts and how that effects their ability to retain the information they read.
I love this idea! I thought that that class and more specifically, that discussion, was so much fun. I've also wondered how fonts effect certain people. What fonts are easier for people with dyslexia to read? Or children? Good luck with this!
ReplyDeleteI am fascinated by fonts as well. I believe this research project would bring incredible insight into the importance of typefaces we use and the effect it has on readers.
