Blog #3: Research Gap

When conducting research on font, I found a lot of information regarding font style and comprehension; however I found that information was lacking regarding font style and recall. Something a lot of researchers did not consider was the relationship between font style and recall. The recollection of information later on is almost as important as the comprehension. Discovering whether or not fonts in certain styles helps with the recollection of information would be incredibly beneficial for the technical writing community.

Another aspect of font that I do not believe got enough attention is the relationship between font size and comprehension. The research mostly emphasized the relationship between font size and recollection rather than comprehension. Gaining an understanding of the role font size plays in compression could be a game changer for many writers. Writers intend to write for the benefit of their readers and being able to elevate reading comprehension could be helpful.

  1. Hey Taylor!
I think this is going to be an interesting topic to pursue! I don't think I have ever really thought about the relationship between font, comprehension, and recollection. I know there are strategies for to memorize with colors and scents, but not with the very font we use. I can't wait to see what you do with this information!
